In my spare time, I like to blog a bit about my personal style and other random bits of inspiration. While I can't actually photograph said #OOTD snaps (that's what my personal photog, err, brother, is for), I do play a role in the creative process. From lending creative direction (think: ideas for framing shots, angles, etc.) and location scouting to the actual editing, I'm well-versed in the blogging process, especially in regards to social media promotion. Though I choose not to use any monetization tools (i.e. rewardStyle or ShopStyle) on social, I do tag brands featured within outfit snaps and include relevant hashtags such as #everydaymadewell in hopes of getting reposted or featured online.
What I Wore + Venue: Due to the laidback nature of my outfit — I teamed a Stockholm Tour Crop Sweatshirt with a denim mini and my favorite Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse high-tops — I knew that the IX Art Park (specifically the “Hands Together” mural) would serve as the perfect urban backdrop to my casual, pared-down look.
Details: As any blogger knows, there are certain details that are highlighted in a blog post (see here) to help shape the storyline. Ultimately, I wanted the close-up shot of my rings and *wink* manicure to embody the "artful, cool, sexy, tomboy, unexpected, effortless" aesthetic that Madewell has become synonymous with. It's everyday props like a vintage Olympus camera that lend visual appeal + enhance the storytelling ethos. Additionally, I wanted to include photographs framing my sweatshirt, as well as a zoomed-out snap of me walking away (and looking away) from the camera to capture a simple, fleeting moment in time. As I wrote on Instagram, << keep on keeping on >> best sums up the feeling.
