PUBLIC: an Ian Schrager Hotel
Located on NYC's Lower East Side, Ian Schrager's latest project PUBLIC is more than just a swanky boutique hotel. With rates starting at $150 per night, Schrager set out to create a "luxury for all" experience that would parallel that of an Airbnb—give or take, the added bonus of swooping skyline views, a cocktail bar, and a cozy coworking space. With Swiss architecture firm, Herzog & de Meuron enlisted to design the 215 Chrystie Street building, and British architect John Pawson tapped for the interiors, PUBLIC is easily a design enthusiast's dream. For this case study, I've utilized the storytelling app Steller (peep the story here) to showcase PUBLIC through a curated collection of photos and videos that I captured during my August 2017 stay.
